It is a full time meticulously planned 3-year undergraduate program. Where Iiftians learn and apply the fundamentals of fashion design, engage in advanced research, and understand the industry requirements. This design course involves gaining in-depth knowledge of theory, materials, techniques, and software with inputs on sustainable fashion design. In addition, Iiftians also get an opportunity to be a part of international exchange programs and study trips, experiencing holistic growth, enabling them to decode contemporary international trends and ideas with an insight into the future of fashion design.

Garment industries in India is growing at a very fast pace and people have become extremely fashion conscious. In order to adorn the apparel they wear jewellery. This course in jewellery designing has been prepared so as to impart the complete knowledge of the type of jewelleries, their formation, their region and specification in colour in use. It would also give the details of computer-aided designing.

OUTLINE OF COURSE

Categorisation of the types of jewelleries into costumes (Plastic), junk (copper), bridal (gold and artificial), silver jewellery.
Jewellery sketching exercises using balancing principals.
Study of metals used in jewellery (Gold, Silver, Copper).

Basic components of jewellery (embossing, granulation).
Glossary of jewellery terminology (gold rate, karat, casting, fineness).
Gem identification on the basis of transparency, sheen, colour, astrology and gemmology.
Jewellery manufacturing techniques, e.g. : Minakari, Stamping, Chain Making, filigree making, copper and silver jewellery.
Computer Aided Designing (basics and packages).
Portfolio/Project work.
Visit to jewellery houses and local jewellery units.
